1050 children from around 30 regional schools visited Farmwise, an annual event held at West Point arena in Exeter, that teaches children about different aspects of farming and agriculture.
The composting division of Coastal Recycling, Coastal Organics, attended the event with a team of their operational staff. The children were able to view our composting machinery in action from a viewing area including the green waste being loaded into the shredding machine and then going through the screening process. The children were able to handle the compost at different stages of the process and answer questions.
All the schools were given a bag of our nutrient-rich compost, some seeds and seedlings trays and were asked to send us a picture of their home-grown pants. The school with the most flourishing and nurtured plant will be in with the chance of winning £100 for a school project of their choice.
