Coastal Recycling has sponsored a competition amongst years 7, 8 and 9 Secondary School pupils of Torbay to design a poster exploring the impact of litter on our environment and measures to tackle it.
The competition was organised by the Rotary Club of Tormohun (Torquay) and is part of a campaign to create awareness amongst the general public and school children of the impact of litter.
After initial prioritisation by members of the Rotary Club, judging of the posters took place with an independent panel selected by members of the Rotary Club. This included Nicole Bates, Marketing Manager at Coastal Recycling. The competition received over 300 entries, almost 100 more than the year before.
The overall winner in each age group received a prize of £100 and a certificate. There was also a smaller cash prize for second place and all participants received a certificate. The winners and representatives from the participating schools were presented with their prizes and certificates at a reception held at the Livermead House Hotel in Torquay on 17th July.
